Leaves, in general, make a beautiful composition perfect for any medium. Chestnut leaves are slightly tough, serrated, and colorful, drying to a nice patina.
Perfect for the painting in mind. The leaves in these two paintings were collected and assembled into a loose bouquet.
Back lighting adds the subtle nuances that make the homely leaves more interesting. Included are cast and phantom shadows, along with illuminations.
These paintings were produced au pair, but stand alone quite well.
These chestnut leaves are a series of fired overglaze washes, each on a 5 inch x 7 inch porcelain tile.
